Robert Devereaux: Santa Steps Out, A Magnificent Horror Tale for Adults

Robert Devereaux, writer of Dead Weigh is one of the most talented contemporary horror authors. According to him, his most memorable work is Santa Steps Out.

Santa Steps Out is the first book of The Santa Chronicles.
Santa lives in the North Pole with his elderly and rather boring wife and with his elfin helpers. In each year, at Christmas Eve, he leaves his cosy, warm home to give presents to the children of the world. However, in 1969, he happens to meet the Tooth Fairy, a young, passionate, and dangerous creature who is obviously offering; soon she becomes obsessed with Santa. On the other hand, good old Saint Nick, a cheerful man who loves the pleasures of life (such as good food and hot sex), notices that there is a hidden, darker side of his personality...

Santa Steps Out was written with passion; Robert Devereaux has the gift to create warm, intimate atmosphere and shocking turns at the same time. The book is full of outrageous sex and fearful, sadistic passion. One does not have to wait much for a tragedy to strike...

I love the way Santa is depicted - and I fell for the most awesome female character, the Tooth Fairy, a wild woman who is impossible to break in. And I loved the two adorable little cats in Santa's home.
